a little piece of Ireland

Our friend Meabdh (Mave) is visiting from Ireland right now with her sister Diedra. Their Brother Dez lives here in Mt. Pleasant. He used to own the drop zone where we did our skydiving. We went to the airport to visit them tonight. Dez still pilots the planes there. It was really nice to see them and catch up. Max had a lot of fun seeing the planes and the skydivers. I really hope to be able to pop over to Ireland and visit them one day. They are a ton of fun and I wish we could have spent more time with them.

Vasectomy

So Jason and I have decided that we are a two child family and that we won't have any more children. Jason has stepped up to the plate and volunteered to get snipped. I swear that I did not push him into this decision. We really feel like its the right thing for us to do so on October 3rd Jason will go under the knife. Actually there is no knife but you get the idea. He is a little nervous and I don't blame him. It doesn't help either that his friends are now referring to him as eunich. Poor guy. It will be nice to not have to worry about being 40 and finding out I'm prego by accident. yup, no more slipping one past the goaly.

has anyone else had this done? let us know how it went.

Fun on the farm

Max always has so much fun on grandma and grandpa's farm. 4 dogs, 2 cats, 3 ginnies and some geese count as a farm right? We think grandpa needs to add a baby goat to the mix.

Grandma is so funny

Micah is starting to smile and laugh and it is so much fun to watch him. He brings us so much joy. Grandma is really good at getting him to smile. how could you not smile at such a great grandma?

Happy 60th Birthday Dad

My dad's 60th birthday was Friday. We had a party for him at my aunt's house in Augres on sunday. She lives right on the Bay and it was beautiful. It was a perfect summer day and everyone had a really good time. My dad's brother and sister came from down state and it was the first time they had all been together in a long time. Max had a ton of fun playing in the water and I had a ton of fun watching him. It was also fun to watch Jason go get a ball that Max had thrown in the water. The water was a bit cold.

EXHAUSTION

Yesterday I was so exhausted I thought I might go mad. I think it was a combination of lack of sleep and taking an antibiotic for round two of mastitis. what ever the reason, it was ridiculous what it did to me. I just couldn't think straight. I had to run to store so I put Micah in the car and then I tossed Max in there. It took a minute since Max decided to take a giant bite out of a piece of blue sidewalk chalk. So I cleaned him up to the best of my ability and head to the store. Keep in mind when you are envisioning this story that I have baby puke on my black shirt and my hair is a frizzy mess falling out of a sloppy pony tail. I kind of looked like living dead girl ala baby puke. So we make it to the store and when I go to pull Max out of his car seat I realize that I never even buckled him into it. The whole eating of the sidewalk chalk threw me for a loop and I never secured my 20 month old in his car seat. Horrifying I know. whats even more horrifying is that this is the second time I have done this to this child. the first time he was two weeks old and it was new years eve when there is more drunks on the road than any other day of the year. what happened is that we went to a friends and everyone was holding him and he fell asleep so I put him in his car seat. He then got covered up with a blanket. So when we left, I just thought he was buckled. So I hope to never make this mistake again. okay, back the original story. The grocery store actually went off without any horrific complications and we headed home. So when we got home I took Max out of his car seat once again only to find that his diaper was so full of pee it had leaked onto his pants. Now, I am sure that I changed him before we left but in my delirious state I must have imagined it. So in a matter of an hour I manage to become the worst mom ever. To top off the night, I went to store to buy trash bags and then never bought them. I was thinking about committing myself for awhile. Of course when It was finally time to go to bed, Micah decided that he didn't really want to sleep so I was up most of the night. He is worth the tiredness though. I just hope the boys can survive my exhausted states. I must be getting old.

Potty training here we come

So Max is all about trying to use the big boy potty right now. he sits down and pushes with all his might and then nothing happens. so I think I'm going take a good couple days and really concentrate on helping him figure this out. I just went to Target and bought him his own potty chair. It even plays music..........funny huh. I'll keep everyone updated. isn't funny how when you become a parent conversation about poop and pee becomes common place.

Big Girly Party

So I got invited to this great birthday party. It was a 27 dresses themed party and you had to wear an old bride's maid dress. it was at the Bay City Country Club last night and it was great. It was my friend Barb's birthday.........Happy Birthday Barb............and she went all out. It was decorated beautifully, the food was excellent (I ate way too much), everyone looked great, and it was just fun all around. Its not very often you get to get dressed up and head out. I wore the bright pink dress that I wore a couple months ago to that event that Jason and I went to for work. None of my old bride's maid dresses fit yet. The party went off without a glitch except for the small fire we had. yup, we almost set the country club on fire. Barb was opening my gift of course when some tissue paper floated into a near by candle and up it went. Barb's first reaction was take the new white Vera Wang purse I got her and put it out. It was scary and comical all at once. The fire got put out and the purse cleaned up like new. If you know Barb, you know that is doesn't seem that out of the ordinary. We were just glad the sprinkler system that was right above us didn't go off. Can you imagine 30 girls in bride's maid dresses soaking wet running from a country club that may or may not be on fire. It was a great time and It was really nice to get out and have some girl time.

Make-up and such

So Max is at that age where he wants to do everything that I'm doing. This includes getting his toe nails painted and putting on make-up. I see no harm in letting him do this but Jason frowns upon it. Even though I have pictures of him at 2 years old dressed like a little girl he doesn't seem to want Max to do this. Jason wouldn't even let me keep turtle neck hand me downs for Max last year because they weren't masculine enough. I did paint Max's toe nails the other day when I was painting mine but then we had fun taking it off with remover so everyone was happy. Can you tell Max has lip gloss on in the above picture. He loves to put it on. Its funny.

brushing of the teeth

So Max has always loved to brush his teeth. Actually, I think its more like eating tooth paste instead of cleaning teeth but at least he attempts it. This morning as we were brushing our teeth together Max looked at me and said, "I wanna spit". I didn't even know he knew how to say that. So I lifted him up over the sink and he proceeded to make retching noises like he was trying to spit. It was great. He cracks me up.

The Olympics

I am all about the olympics this year. first of all, I love that they are on at 3 am so I actually have something to watch when I'm up feeding Micah. I also love watching Michael Phelps make history. Did anyone see the mens 400 relay where they beat the dirty french and shut them up? it was great. I just think the whole thing is fun. we are doing so great and it makes me proud. I hope to be able to take the boys to the olympics one day. I think it would be a great experience for all of us.

friends

We got to see hook and meet his very nice girlfriend Ginger this weekend. Kim and the kids came over with him and it was so nice to see everyone. Max and Alden had fun playing and dragging out every toy in the house. Its amazing the damage kids can do to a clean house in just minutes. Steven and Lindsay and Hank Tait even stopped by for awhile, it was fun and great to visit.

Fair Time

I have to admit that for some reason I have always hated the fair. Well, I should say I hate the carnies, the cheap rides and the freaky people that show up at the fair but I do like the animals and the 4-h aspects of the fair. So now that I have kids I have to go to the fair and so we took Max and Micah this week and it was nice. Micah slept of course and Max had a really good time checking out the animals, tractors and scary carnival workers. Jason took him to see the tractor pulls and he thought that was the coolest thing ever. Jason seemed pretty impressed as well. Work has a booth set up there so Max got to climb in some of the equipment that we had there. He thought that was pretty cool too. It was a really nice evening and I kind of got over my hatered of fairs.

The Doodlebops

So the concert event of the century took place tonight in Mt. Pleasant and I'm proud to say we were there.....along with a million other people and their kids. Max seemed pretty excited all day long to go see the Doodlebops. Actually, he was excited but I don't think he really understood why. The concert was about and hour long and Max fell asleep about 35 minutes into it. Yah, $75 for tickets and Max falls asleep. Apartenly, he wasn't that impressed by it all. It was a cute show and not nearly as irritating as we had anticipated. It will make for a good story to tell Maximo one day.

while Jason was gone.

So last week Jason was in San Diego for a conference. My mom and niece stayed with me while he was gone. It was a long week but we had some fun. Saturday when Jason left I took the boys and went to my future sister in law's bridal shower. She is a sweetheart and I'm lucky to be getting such a great sister. Later that week we did a little shopping at the mall, I took my niece to see a movie and we went out non the boat. Max loves the boat but Micah wasn't too sure. it was fun but it was really nice to have Jay come home and have things be normal.

Congrats

Congrats to Katie on Rorary on getting hitched. We are so happy for you and wish you all the best. Sorry we couldn't be there but we hope you know that we love you guys! Congrats again.

I'm back

So have you ever felt like the world is against you. I have felt this way lately but just in regards to getting online. Our internet keeps going out. I talked to charter last week and got it fixed and then like two days later it went out again. so they finally sent someone over to look at it. The cable guy was an old friend of Jason's and he simple said, "you guys have major issues here." so three cable trucks, numerous technicians and two days later and our internet works again. I am so glad. The terrible thing is that the day the internert went out is the day that Jason's sister Katie got married in Vegas and we were so excited to watch it online. needless to say, we didn't get to watch it. It is still online and we now have watched it but it would have been nice to see it live. I am so glad to have my computer back and I will be blogging a lot to catch up.
