Oops.

My son just pooped in the bathtub. Max has never done this and this is the first time Micah has done it. It was funny and gross all that the same time. I'll keep this one in the embarrassing stories to tell your girlfriends file.

Canning 101

I absolutely love dilly beans so instead of begging my sister for jars upon jars of them, this year I decided to try my hand at canning some myself. I have never canned and thought it was going to be a process that took all day but it was easier than I thought. I only canned 10 jars but that should do us for awhile.

Max was a big help stuffing beans in the jars

Now I will have to see how they taste. I think I did everything right but I would be the one to screw it up.

A night in my home town

My friends Cynthia and Jenni accompanied me last night to Beaverton, where I grew up. We ate at the Beaverton Tavern, which has the best wet burrito around, and then we headed to Gladwin to see my brother's band play. It was fun. I got a hug wet burrito and a glass of wine for $11.85. You just can't beat that.
the lighting wasn't good for pictures but my brother is playing the drums.

They are very talented guys and I was glad I finally got to see my brother play.

A good read

I have just started reading the bible. I know it is sad that I am just now getting to it. I have made attempts in the past to read it but I always got stuck on so and so begot so and so an so on. This time I started with the new testament. I have this old bible from the 70's that Jason refers to as my "hippy bible". Its the living new testament and its called Reach Out. I am really enjoying it. I feel like I am learning so much and growing in my faith. I find I am at peace when I read it and that is hard to find in my house. Next I'll tackle the old testament. I find myself excited about it.

Hand, Foot and Mouth disease

Micah's got hand, foot and mouth diseas or hoof and mouth disease as I like to call it. Apparently there is a little pandemic of it going around the Mt. Pleasant area and my little bee pop has joined the ranks. So far he only has a fever and I'm hoping and praying he doesn't develope the rash or mouth soars that go along with it. I am also hoping and praying that Max or Jason and I don't get it. I hear its really painful and not pretty to look at.

Congrats Mike and Amy

Michael waiting for his bride. His sons Conner and Tyler stood up for him. My camera died before I got any pictures of the beautiful bride Amy. She looked stunning.
Their daughters Alex and Toni stood up for Amy. This is Alex.

Mike's parents Chris and George. We think of them as our adopted parents. We love them like family.

Max and Micah both looked so cute in their outfits. I think they could have made the cover of GQ.

This is the face that made me think Micah was going to do great at the wedding and be such a good boy.

Our friends Mike and Amy got married this past Saturday. We are very happy for them. The wedding was at a park here in Mt. Pleasant and it was beautiful. The batteries in my camera died about two minutes after we got there so I have very few pictures. The afternoon didn't go so well for us. Micah was super fussy and cried and screamed throught the entire wedding. When we got to the reception which was also outside, I thought he would be fine but I was wrong. So I took Micah home and Max and Jason stayed and had fun. At 10 I went to pick up the guys. I managed to get Micah in his carseat without him really waking up. I thought my luck had turned. I got Max and Jason in the car and when we were about 30 seconds down the road when I heard Max puke....twice. He had a little too much food and little too much dancing. After his puking episode, he said rather proudly, "Mom, I puked"! So at 10:30 I was giving Max a bath and washing a carseat cover. I feel so bad I didn't get to celebrate with Mike and Amy. I have been waiting for them to get married for about 7 years now. sorry guys, had to throw that in. Congrats and love ya!

Poor Grandpa

Here's how the conversation went.......

Me: Hey Max give grandpa hugs its time to go bye bye.

Max: I don't want to give grandpa hugs.

Me: Why not?

Max: Because grandpa stinks!

bye the way, grandpa Don does not stink but it was funny to see his face when Max told him he did.

Happy Birthday Dad!

My brother, sister-in-law and dad came over last night so we could celebrate my dad's birthday. It was so nice to have them here. Hope you have a great birthday dad!

my dad's favorite cake.....German chocolate.

apparently the lens on my camera didn't open up all the way. My dad wanted a new comforter for his bed so thats what we got him. He thought a woman should pick it out. Silly old bachelor.

A Dirty Afternoon

Hey is that mud? Lets jump in it.
Yes lets jump in the mud but first I must pose for the camera.

yes, again because I'm so handsome.

I'm not waiting for you. I already have sand and dirt on my face and rock in my hand that I'm about to eat.

did I mention mud all over my feet and legs?

Ok, my turn!

Fun at the park

Tuesday we went to the park. Its actually the first time we have been to the park this year. I guess we have just been busy or the weather has been bad. We had fun. Micah is so easy to entertain, just give him a stick and he's happy for hours.
You have nothing on me big slide......

Yay, I'm doing do it.

I conquered the slide.........now repeat 854 more times.

Micah had fun just wandering around. He also loved trying to climb the steps to all the slides.

I'm so upset

We are starting a mother's of preschoolers group at church and I am part of the steering team. we have had one meeting so far and were to have another one this week. For some reason I had it in my head that the meeting was Thursday. Well it was this morning and I missed it. I am so mad at myself. It is really not like me to confuse dates and times like this. I even had it in the calendar in my phone. It was nice enough to remind me this morning as the meeting was starting. I was so excited to share my ideas and get feedback on the newsletter I have been working on. This was an important meeting for me to attend and it probably looks really bad that I'm not there. If I were the rest of the group I would be thinking that I was irresponsible and don't care enough to show up. Hopefully with time, I can prove otherwise.

The Adrian Gerber Memorial Ride

Aaron rode his motorcycle and Melissa rode with us.

no motorcycles but we still had fun.

Scott and Christine. These poor guys had to put up with us all weekend and we're so glad they did.

Sunday was the first annual Adrian Gerber Memorial ride. Jason and I don't have motorcycles but we took the Trail Blazer and helped out where we could. We helped sell raffle tickets and things like that. It was a pretty good turnout and they managed to raise over $3000 for the Adrian Gerber fights Leukemia fund. We are so proud to have been able to help out with this. We miss Adrian a lot.

A day on the Lake

saturday we went to our friends Scott and Christine's house. They have a beautiful home on Holland Lake. Its a little private lake near Stanton. We had such a nice time. Max had an absolute riot playing with the boys that were there. He loves playing with older kids. He thought he was so grown up following those boys around everywhere. Scott and Christine's kids were so great with him too. They took him in like a little brother. They are really wonderful kids. Jason and I had fun hanging out and we even went skiing. We are both feeling it today. Wow I am soar. Max loves hanging with the guys.

fat man in a little life jacket....sorry Jay.

Max got to take a kayak ride from the end of the dock to the shore, he thought it was cool. Plus he was with his buddies Zack and Emily.

Max had so much with this bucket. I bet it transported 100 gallons of water through out the day.

I can't believe I actually caught Micah smiling for moment, he was crying and grumpy all day. Poor little guy just wasn't himself.

Potter's Park Zoo

Mom, I'm not going to look at the camera when there are a million animals to look at.
Max got to rida a camel........

He thought that was awesome.

Aunti Wind got some experience pushing around a stroller and hauling diaper bags and purses...Thanks Windi, your a life safer!

Lama, "I'm not sure what to make of this one"
Max, "I'm not sure what to make of this one"

Max thought this was so cool. When he saw the picture he laughed and said, "oh, I'm a lion" and then laughed again.

there was a playground right outside the zoo that the boys had a so much fun playing on.

The zoo was really nice. It took us 3 hours to get through it. It was hot and tiring but fun. Apparently the Potter's Park Zoo is the oldest zoo in Michigan and they had a lot more than I thought they would. We will definitely be going back. It was so nice to spend some time with my best friend Windi. She is such a joy to be around. It was great having some help with the boys too. They were a handful yesterday and Windi was a God send. I think we'll have to make that an annual event.

The Fair

I never liked the fair until I had the boys. Now I think its fun to take them. So last night we loaded up the boys and headed over. As we got close to the fair grounds Max caught a glimpse of all the rides, lights and people and said, "OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH..........AWESOME" it was the cutest thing I have ever heard. If you could have just heard the amazement and excitement in his voice. Simply adorable. We had a nice time. Micah was Mr. Crabby Pants but he had fun looking at all the 4H animals and Max was mesmerized by the tractor pulls. I think we might make it another year before we have to go on the vomit inducing fair rides. That I'm not looking forward to.

all the fun things to do at the fair and Micah wants to walk back and forth between window displays. He also put many hand prints on them.....sorry window people!
Personally, I thought the elephant ears were better.

This is Max making tractor noises.

the only thing cuter than a baby cow is my little baby petting one.

tractors galore. Max was in heaven.

They are both pretty cute. Don't you think?

Oops, I guess I picked this picture twice. Sorry.
