Any Suggestions?

The son of one of our vice presidents at work has been fighting Lukemia for 3 years now. He is getting ready to get a bone marrow transplant and will be in isolation. He is having a send off party tomorrow and I want to buy him a book. Poor kid will be bored out of his mind. I have no idea what kind of book to buy a 12 year old boy that can compete with video games. Any suggestions? Also, if everyone could keep Adrian in your prayers. He has a rough road ahead of him. Thanks.

That is so sad, too young to go through that...
Hmmm. try a graphic novel. Jason and I bought Spencer and Lucas "Bones" it's a series of graphic novels. Cassandra said they liked them.
Here is a link so you can check out the book. Hope it helps.... Good luck book searching and we will keep him in our prayers.

Punkin' likes the American Chiller books, (better yet, the Michigan Chiller ones) but those might be beneath him since she is only 9. She finds it cool to read fictional stories about the towns she goes to like Grand Rapids, Alpena...etc. Other than that I am not quite sure for a 12yr old boy.

We will certainly keep him in our prayers! What a scary time for him!

Hey Steph, where is he getting his transplant? If he's getting it done in Detroit, I'll be taking care of them! Also, my friend Amy has 2 sons about that age, and she said that her boys LOVE the "Just" and "Butt" books by Andy Griffiths. Some of the titles are "The days my Butt went Psycho" or "Just Wacky". They sound retarted but her kids really enjoy them and have read all of the books in both series--let's face it, boys are a little crazy, especially the tweens :P.
At any rate, I hope that all goes well. If you want other suggestions, give me a call! I will talk to you soon, and I will absolutely keep them in my prayers! Love ya!

Thanks so much everyone! Kelly, I think he is going to the U. I will let you know though. Also, I think the "butt" books might be a winner. They look really funny. I'm sure he could use some humor.
