A Weekend in Grand Rapids

We spent the weekend in Grand Rapids. Every year there is an EMS Expo at the Amway Grand and Jason has to go for work so I usually go to. We brought the boys this year. The boys and I hit the town while Jason went to classes and took care of work stuff. It was a fun packed weekend with beautiful weather. It was great and so nice to get away for a couple of days.

Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park

I have never been to the Fred Meijer gardens but wow. I was truly amazed. This place is immense and wondrous. We saw only about 2 percent of this place. We got caught up in the children's gardens. There are several water play areas, a sand area to dig and find fossils, tree houses and much much more and that's just in the kids area. We also got to see the butterflies in bloom. They have so much to offer here. You could spend all day and probably not see everything. I can't wait to go back. We did things very backwards. First I let Max play in the water and get soaked. We then went to see the butterflies. Max had to go without a shirt because his was soaking wet and I forgot to bring a different one. We then went to play in the sand area. Next time, we'll plan that better. It was a beautiful day and we saw many beautiful sights. I only wish Jason could have been with us.

Playing in water on a great spring day.

Micah dozing in the sun.

nothings better than getting your clothes soaked.

some flowers that the butterflies love.

The Grand Rapid's Children's Museum

Saturday morning the boys and I walked over to the children's museum. They have a Blue Man Group exhibit there right now and lots of fun stuff to do. We could have spent all day here. I wish Mt. Pleasant had a place like this because we would be there all the time.
Max driving in an old VW bug.

Max made giant bubbles. We both thought this was a ton of fun.

Part of the Blue Man Group exhibit where you could make music by hitting these pads on the tubes.

Micah even had a ton of fun.

Max rocking out on this piano.

Micah couldn't figure out why he couldn't just grab these lights. It was cute to watch.

A sweet lady was nice enough to take our picture. I'm always the one with the camera and feel like I don't have any pictures with the boys. Thanks nice lady!

Brothers having fun.
as soon as we got back to the hotel, the boys and I crashed for almost 2 hours. It was great!!

The Van Andel Public Museum

Saturday after our much needed nap I took the boys across the river from our hotel to the museum. They have a dinosaur exhibit going on there right now that Max just had to check out. Besides the dinosaurs, they a lot of other great stuff. We didn't get to experience most of it because the museum was closing an hour after we arrived but we will definitely go back to visit again. We did get to ride the giant carousal. Max and Micah both thought it was mesmerizing.

Holy crap, did you see that dinosaur?

Max so badly wanted to get into this plane.

Max made great dinosaur noises to go with these toys, they were scary!

This carousal looks out onto the water. Its really quite magical.

Swimming.

Jason attempted to teach Max to swim but its going take some work.

This is so great.

After the museum we took the boys to the pool and they had so much fun swimming. Max thought it was the coolest to jump into the pool and have daddy catch him. It was Micah's first time in a pool and he didn't seem to care to much. He just hung out and let me swish him around in the water.

Wow, that looks like a fun weekend! Mike moved to GR after our divorce so Punkin' is there often for visits. I didn't know those places were even over there!
